Position Description:
The SMT Machine Operator sets up and operates automated machinery used in the manufacturing process. Worker's
responsibilities include keeping the production area clean, preparing machinery and equipment for use, working the
production line as instructed, and adhering to safety protocols.
Performs any combination of following duties:
• Performs setup of automated machinery following documented work instructions.
• Performs intermediate level preventative maintenance on machinery.
• Responsible for keeping the equipment clean and in good working order.
• Monitors product during production to ensure acceptable quality, responsible for taking immediate action if
quality standards are not met.
• Is responsible for informing the Supervisor or Group Leader of any adjustments needed to the process or
equipment in order to achieve acceptable quality levels.
• Enters transactions into computer, completes logs and records as required.
• Works under the direction of supervisor, group leader or designee.

Required Knowledge/Skills:
• Must be technically current and capable of using ERP, internal databases, bill of material, schematics, gerber files, and documented work instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Intermediate computer literacy with competencies in word-processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and database management.
• Strong attention to detail.

Required Experience:
• Working experience in the manufacturing of electronic circuit board assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Solid understanding of production machinery and proper assembly procedures.
• Knowledgeable of basic electronic component types.
• Knowledgeable of electronic component polarity markings and values.
• IPC-610 Proficiency Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Working experience in the manufacturing of electronic circuit board assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Solid understanding of production machinery and proper assembly procedures.
• Knowledgeable of basic electronic component types.
• Knowledgeable of electronic component polarity markings and values.
• IPC-610 Proficiency Certification.

Position Description:
Performs any combination of following duties in the assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards or cable assemblies:

• Reads work instructions and wiring diagrams, receives verbal instructions, or follows samples to determine assembly duties, and installs electronic components, such as transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, inductors, integrated circuits, and connectors.
• Twists, bends, trims, or strips, wire leads of components to insert wire leads into printed circuit boards or connectors, using hand tools or automated equipment.
• Inserts color-coded wires in designated holes and clinches wire ends, using hand tools.
• Places plastic insulating sleeves around specified wire leads of components and shrinks sleeves into place, using heat gun.
• Press-fits component leads onto PCB.
• Trims wire leads on underside of board, using hand tools or clinch and cut equipment.
• Applies sealer or masking compound to selected parts of PCB to protect parts from effects of the wave solder process.
• Solders wire leads and joints on underside of board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to PCB and between individual components.
• Installs heat sinks, sockets, faceplates, and accessories on PCB using hand tools.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment as an Electronic Assembler and/or Hand soldering electronic PCB assemblies.
• Ability to follow direction on repetitive assembly tasks.
• Ability to follow routing sheets, work instructions, wiring diagrams, and other written instructions.
• Works well as a productive member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiar with IPC-A-610 standard, certification a plus
• Familiar with IPC-A-620 standard, certification a plus
• Familiar with IPC J-STD-001standard, certification a plus
